SERVSAFE Training and Certificate

You will review and learn the principles of food safety, including:

  • Risks of contamination
  • Food safety regulations
  • Proper temperatures for cooking and storage
  • Food borne illness prevention
  • Maintaining sanitary facilities. 

This class is conducted by a certified instructor who will help you prepare to take the ServSafe exam.  Students with a passing grade on the exam will be awarded the certification.  

You will receive:

  • Free tuition and materials
  • ServSafe exam
  • ServSafe Certified at the end of the course with a passing grade on the ServSafe exam

Eligibility:

A worker must be a Food & Nutrition worker who is employed in an eligible position and has worked at least three (3) months at a facility in order to participate.  You must also be a member of the SEIU Healthcare PA bargaining unit at your facility. 

 

Class Schedule:

The ServSafe Certification Program is generally held for 2 days

Classes start at 9:00 am and end at 4:00 pm. Workers, supervisors and schedulers will work to arrange worker’s schedules so they can attend classes.

Attendance policy:

Participants are required to attend the entire class (generally 2 days) in order to complete the program and be eligible to sit for the exam.

To successfully attain ServSafe certification, a rigorous exam is required. Program Specialists will consult with candidates to gauge their readiness for the class.
