SERVSAFE Training and Certificate
You will review and learn the principles of food safety, including:
- Risks of contamination
- Food safety regulations
- Proper temperatures for cooking and storage
- Food borne illness prevention
- Maintaining sanitary facilities.
This class is conducted by a certified instructor who will help you prepare to take the ServSafe exam. Students with a passing grade on the exam will be awarded the certification.
You will receive:
- Free tuition and materials
- ServSafe exam
- ServSafe Certified at the end of the course with a passing grade on the ServSafe exam
A worker must be a Food & Nutrition worker who is employed in an eligible position and has worked at least three (3) months at a facility in order to participate. You must also be a member of the SEIU Healthcare PA bargaining unit at your facility.
The ServSafe Certification Program is generally held for 2 days
Classes start at 9:00 am and end at 4:00 pm. Workers, supervisors and schedulers will work to arrange worker’s schedules so they can attend classes.
Participants are required to attend the entire class (generally 2 days) in order to complete the program and be eligible to sit for the exam.

The worker should fill out and sign the top portion, Part One, of the form, and the manager completes Part Two.

To successfully attain ServSafe certification, a rigorous exam is required. Program Specialists will consult with candidates to gauge their readiness for the class.
